SIGNEXT CTSM Current Transformer Shorting Module

Emphatec’s SIGNEXT CTSM is designed to prevent hazardous voltages from being produced by current transformers that accidentally are unloaded. If the secondary of a CT is unloaded (open circuit) very high voltages can be produced that pose shock and fire hazards. 

This module monitors the secondary and applies a short circuit in the event the voltage increases over approximately 2 V. The short circuit can be applied indefinitely. To ensure integrity in the CT secondary circuit the module uses tension clamp terminations that are vibration proof and locking blocks on the connector so accidental disconnection is not possible.
